Site Manager, Construction
Construction India & NSEA
The Construction Manager main purpose is to manage the delivery, construction, Erection and commissioning of specified Wind Farm Projects. This must be done within the constraints of time, cost and quantity against contractual obligations. Depending on the scale and complexity of the Projects, the Site Manager may have to handle multiple projects at once. The Site Manager reports directly to the Project Manager/ General Manager Projects. The key focus areas would be Project Site management (planning, tracking and reporting), Contractual interpretation and implementation, Resource planning and managing these resources, Client development and managing these clients at site , Contractor & subcontractor management, Active risk management and focus on all safety aspects including safety issues related to our Contractors.
Manage the India and NSEA Region wind energy project Sites during the engineering, procurement and construction phases through the transition to operations to ensure that safety, quality, cost and schedule goals are met.
Lead a team of internal and external professionals who provide technical expertise and support through design, construction, commissioning and handover to operations.
Direct project engineers and all types of Engineer Site Supervisors to ensure that project goals are met safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Build and lead a project team comprised of key equipment venders, contractors and engineers to ensure a collaborative team atmosphere and common mission for the project.
Provide leadership for an efficient turnover of a reliable quality plant with operations, asset management and other groups.
Develop, negotiate, and manage engineering and construction contracts, including clearly defining scope, schedule and cost management requirements.
Coordinate during construction the technical and commercial aspects of wind turbine suppliers and other major equipment procurement agreements to ensure compliance and to build effective team collaboration with vender representatives.
Coordinate design requirements with Technology R&D consultants and construction managers on transmission integration plans and specifications during project construction.
Ensure that the technical and quality requirements of the high voltage electrical interconnection facilities, substations and collector feeder systems are met.
Provide periodic updates to Company's senior management on construction progress, capital budget forecasting for the project.
Develop a team safety awareness culture for the project from the design phrase through construction and into operations.
Assist with technical due diligence in conjunction with external consultant’s needs as requested.
Should have mindset to en-cash opportunities related all types of claims including insurance and Extra cost and /or overrun Time extension etc. in order to fully support Project team in Claims management.
Facilitate effective feedback to internal and external resources to identify efficiencies and improvements in project quality, reliability, costs, schedule or other parameters that enhance Company's strategic initiatives.
Ensures all relevant internal controls are followed and recommend new controls as needed.
Adhere to Vestas Standards Policies and ensure the same Is implemented at site
Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
13+ years’ experience in engineering and construction or operations of wind energy facilities or equivalent for other electric generation plants and/or high voltage transmission lines and substations.
5 + years’ experience in project management within wind energy, power, utility or related industries. Specific experience in Wind Turbines Erection is highly desirable.
Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills with strong focus on teamwork and interface with a broad range of work groups.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with concurrent schedules.
Proficiency using Primavera scheduling tools. Knowledge of SAP cost management software.
Experience managing projects from Planning, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning through Operations
Strong planning and process skills.
Project initiation, planning, execution, controlling and closing out the project.
Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
Manage project dependencies and team and stake holder relationships.
