Yuwa India is seeking a passionate individuals for Teaching Positions at Yuwa School in Ranchi District, Jharkhand. Here, teachers receive a professionally challenging and rewarding experience by developing future leaders among rural girls.
Responsibilities include teaching students from an English Medium NIOS curriculum, designing creative lesson plans, developing curriculum, participating in regular teacher training workshops, and contributing to a positive and energetic learning environment. We are currently hiring the positions of Early Primary Teacher for Standards 1-2 and Primary Teacher for Standard 3-4.
Yuwa is an internationally acclaimed non-governmental organization that uses football and education to put girls in charge of their own futures. Yuwa is registered as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in the USA and as a Trust in India. Yuwa is based in villages in the Ranchi district of Jharkhand, where girls are especially at risk of dropping out of school, early marriage, gender-related violence, and human trafficking. Through the creation of football teams, girls gain leadership skills and confidence, continue their education, and are less likely to be forced into child marriage. Here, teamwork is a powerful force to promote health, education and improved livelihoods among the most important agents of change—young women. We have been working in the same community in Hutup Village since 2009.

About the Yuwa School
Yuwa School for Girls in Hutup village, Jharkhand began in April 2015. The vision of our school is: Every girl's future in her own hands . Our mission is to enable students to reach their full academic potential, develop critical and creative thinking skills, and become compassionate, empowered leaders in their communities.
Our current campus supports 81 students. The school will run on this campus until mid-2018, when construction of our permanent and residential campus is complete.
Girls in the Yuwa School focus on developing academic foundations in math, science, language, and social studies. Classes are taught primarily in English.
Teaching students classes daily

Open Teaching Positions
Standards 1 – 2 Teacher : This teacher will be responsible for teaching all subjects to a class with a maximum of 25 students from Standards 1 - 2. This person should love working with young children, foster curiosity and discussion in the classroom, and be exceptionally patient. Classes should focus on fundamentals of Hindi, English, and Math, in addition to an emphasis on good behaviour and working in teams. Activities should be creative, dynamic, and hands-on.
Standards 3 – 4 Teacher : This teacher will be responsible for teaching all subjects to a class with a maximum of 25 students from Standards 3 - 4. This person should love working with young children, foster curiosity and discussion in the classroom, and be exceptionally patient. Classes should focus on fundamentals of Hindi, English, and Math, in addition to an emphasis on good behaviour and working in teams. Instruction should be at least 70% in English. Activities should be creative, dynamic, and hands-on.
Experience teaching, tutoring, or mentoring students
Positive recommendation from past employers or professors
Fluent in English and Hindi
Demonstrated mastery of the subjects you will teach at Yuwa School
Strong organisationsal and record keeping skills
Flexibility – able to work independently and also take direction as needed
Strong communication skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with teachers, students and parents
Curiosity: desire to continue learning
Sense of urgency: desire to make the most of your students' time
Sense of humour - always required in rural India
Salary and Benefits
Remuneration will be between 20,000 – 25,000 rs per month, based on the candidate's experience and qualifications. Please keep in mind that the cost of living in rural Jharkhand is significantly lower than it is in the larger metros.
