2. Technical Participation
Prepare and supervise the preparation of design and fabrication drawings, bills of material and other documentation as directed by the Lead Engineer.
Review vendors’ drawings for equipment as directed by the Lead Engineer.
Supervise and perform checking of all drawings prior to submission to the Lead Engineer for approval.
Supervise the application of technical knowledge to the Engineering Design and ensure that a consistently high standard is maintained.
3. Working To Company And Department Official Instructions
Ensure that all work is in accordance with Company and Departmental Procedures, Methods and specific Project instructions.
4. Deviations from Official Procedures and Methods
Refer all requests to deviate from official Procedures, Methods and Instructions to the Lead Engineer or Lead Designer for his consideration and approval.
When acting as Lead Designer:
- Review Project Planning Schedule to establish that all activities and dates are realistic.
- Supervise Drawing Office work of subordinates to ensure completion within allocated workhour budget.
- Monitor and report on draughting progress, workhour usage, including any anticipated over-run to the Lead Engineer.
Ensure that all work is in compliance with Client’s Standards and Engineering Practices as detailed in the Project Co-ordination procedure.
7. Liaison with other Design Group
Review all relevant drawings produced by other Groups. Maintain contact with other Groups to ensure:
- they are acquainted with the requirements which affect them.
- that interface areas are adequately covered
Ensure that site queries relating to installation drawings are processed quickly, and important problems are referred to the Lead Engineer for necessary action.
9. Unresolved Problems
Refer all unresolved problems to the Lead Engineer.
10. Improving Production
Refer to the Group Head, suggestions for improving existing, or implementing new Standards, Methods or Procedures, which would improve the efficiency of production. Participate in development activities for introducing new techniques and aids.
In addition, carry out such tasks from time to time as directed by his next senior commensurate with the work expected of this position.
Education : A Diploma in either Mechanical / Instrument engineering discipline or a certificate in Drafting trade, Auto CAD certificate.
Experience : 25 years in Design Office preferably with Consultant/Contractor, preferably with the following experience.
Design/Drafting of Instrument Location Plans, Cable Tray & Conduit Layout, Control Room Layout Drawings, Interconnection wiring details, Junction box wiring diagrams, Instrument loop diagrams, Cable schedule / material take off schedule.
