The Officer, Global Controls will be responsible for evaluating and reporting on the integrity and effectiveness of the established controls within its Joint Ventures. The Officer , Global Controls will ensure that:
Joint Venture partners design, maintain, and oversee a comprehensive system of controls to identify, mitigate, and address potential business and operations risks. The systems of controls must encompass:
operational controls to prevent and mitigate operating losses and reputational risk;
information security controls to prevent unauthorized access to or disclosure of confidential information;
business continuity controls to ensure that contingency events are adequately planned for.
State Street is able to effectively exercise oversight and governance of JV operations through transparent, regular reporting and communication between onshore and offshore Business, Operations, and Risk functions.
Joint Ventures routinely demonstrate the respective compliance with the Master Services Agreement.
JV’s are well-prepared for, responsive to, and successful in internal and external audits and reviews. These reviews and audits may be initiated by State Street Internal Audit, State Street clients, foreign regulatory bodies, or others (eg consultants). The Sr. Manager/ Manager, Global Controls will facilitate for the interface between the reviewer/auditor on one side and the State Street entity that is ultimately subject to the review on the other side.
Co-ordinate, manage and support BCP management incase of a BCP scenario
Conduct risk reviews on operation and non-operational areas
In order to fulfil these responsibilities, the person will:
Plan and conduct regular reviews of JV’s Risk Management monitoring and reporting of control effectiveness. Analyze the effectiveness of the underlying controls as well as of the Risk Management monitoring and reporting function. Share results of reviews with JV and State Street management and provide recommendations on potential improvements if any.
Review and evaluate risk assessments of new processes in transition to ensure that potential risks have been identified and appropriate mitigating controls are proposed and implemented.
Evaluate controls within and across the JVs for consistency and best practice.
Follow up on any corrective action items identified and agreed to from any internal or external review or audit. Ensure either timely resolution or escalation of all items.
Meet regularly with State Street Risk Managers, Compliance Officers, and Internal Auditors to ensure awareness of and preparedness for any areas of concern plans for upcoming reviews, and to follow up on ongoing issues.
At least 10 years of relevant work experience in Financial Services, Banking and Insurance domain
Project management skills and ability to track against agreed timelines
High comfort with creating and presenting information through powerpoint
Good analytical skills and genuine orientation towards data
Good communication skills, both verbally and in written format
Ability to work independently as individual contributor
Ability to travel as required
Any knowledge of analytical tools and databases will be an added advantage
